Welcome to the Bognor Regis Neighbourhood Watch Association
website
Neighbourhood Watch is the single largest voluntary
organisation in the country. It is based around the idea of an active community
working in partnership with the police and other agencies to make their
neighbourhood safer.
There are over 250 active street schemes throughout the
urban area of Bognor Regis, from Pagham to Middleton and Elmer, covering
thousands of households. Each scheme is run by a Street Coordinator, who
communicates relevant crime information to the scheme members, and feeds back
information from members to the police.
Each ward has an Area Coordinator, who is the liaison point
for individual schemes, and the link between Neighbourhood Watch and Sussex
Police. The ward is also a police beat with a dedicated police officer and
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) who supports the schemes.
The Bognor Regis Association was set up in 1984 by Roy
Gristwood. It gradually became one of the largest groups in the country,
covering over 14,000 households. Accessibility by email has improved
communications for those with PCs, but caused other schemes to fold. We are
still a vital community resource, and are currently rebuilding our coverage.
